Homemade lentil patties

Cooking is a wonderful thing. It can be a quiet time of thanksgiving for the food we are being given and joyful anticipation for the meal we are preparing. It can be a celebration to be shared with others and it also serves as a reminder to appreciate what we have, remember those in need, and give thanks for every morsel we eat.

Today’s recipe features: peas.

On the menu: lentil patties. These can be made as spicy 🌶 finger food snacks, with or without a dip, or as a bigger burger in the bread 🍞 of your choice.


This is a homemade recipe that I patiently polished with each try. Hope you enjoy making it for yourself and loved ones.

Growing up on Trinidadian food, in Barbados, meals were often spicy and eaten with hands. From delicious roti and delectable “doubles,” to seasonal fruit, arepa (T&T’s Spanish influence) and buss-up shot, foods that require the assistance of hands brings a cosy homey and fun feeling, that connects you directly with the flavours you’re enjoying. That said, I’ll make and share a dip to go along with these patties.
